5 Lessons from Ressa Tessa and how horses can help in relationships, dating and life.

Now, let me begin by stating that I do not know Ressa Tessa directly. However, after hearing her account of what she went through and how it affected her, I would like to share some of the things that I have picked up and the lessons that we may learn from her story.

Who TF Did I Marry?
Ressa Tessa

Finding out about ourselves and getting better is a very personal process that is often filled with obstacles that test our strength and trustworthiness. Ressa Tessa's TikTok series "Who TF Did I Marry" shows how complicated relationships, trust, and the way to make things right can be. Listening to her story made me reflect on my own journey of relationships, the lies I've told and the lies I’ve heard.  While working with horses everyday I get to see how horses can mirror my emotions and make me more aware of how I show up in the world. These ideas are deeply reflected in SOOFA Ranch's therapeutic setting, especially in the future group therapy session for women that focus on healing trauma through equine-assisted therapy.

Here are a few personal take aways I saw in the Ressa Tessa Story and how they parallel with working with horses.

1. The Importance of Trust

Trust is fundamental in relationships, as Ressa Tessa's experience demonstrates. It serves as a sobering reminder of the ease with which trust can be shattered and the difficulty of reestablishing it. Restoring faith in oneself and others is a central tenet of SOOFA Ranch's Equine-Assisted Therapy. In a secure and supportive setting, individuals can learn to trust again with the aid of horses because of the horses' innate ability to reflect human emotions. The forthcoming women's group therapy session at SOOFA Ranch, which focuses on Trauma Resolution through Equine-Assisted Therapy, reflects these topics to a remarkably deep degree.

2. Recognizing and Overcoming Fear

Ressa Tessa revealed in her series how her fears impacted her decision-making, causing her to make choices she came to deeply regret. There is no better way to face and conquer these phobias than with the help of working with horses in a therapeutic setting. As prey animals, horses pick up on human emotions, especially fear, quite well. Women gain confidence and self-esteem as they work side by side with these amazing creatures to identify worries, find out where they come from, and create plans to conquer them.

3. Non-Verbal Communication and Awareness

In Ressa Tessa's story, the unsaid emotional undercurrents that shaped her journey are one of the most intriguing components of the story she tell. Equine-Assisted Therapy places a strong emphasis on that component of human contact that does not involve verbal communication. Individuals who interact with horses develop a greater awareness of non-verbal cues, which in turn improves their emotional intelligence and their ability to form relationships with other people. Horses communicate primarily through their body language.

4. The Journey to Self-Esteem and Empowerment

Ressa Tessa's story is not just one of hardship but also of self-discovery, empowerment, and the rebuilding of self-esteem. This transformative journey finds a parallel in the realm of Equine-Assisted Therapy, where the engagement with horses acts as a conduit for healing and growth. Through interactions with these empathetic animals, individuals are enveloped in an atmosphere of unconditional acceptance, fostering enhanced self-esteem and a reinforced sense of self-worth. This therapeutic process empowers individuals, particularly women, to reclaim their strength, assert their voice, and bolster their confidence, marking pivotal strides in the healing from past traumas.

5. Healing and Processing Trauma

The theme of SOOFA Ranch's upcoming therapy session is trauma resolution. Ressa Tessa's willingness to share her story publicly opened up discussions about trauma, its impact, and the path to healing. Equine-Assisted Therapy offers a unique approach to processing trauma. The non-judgmental presence of horses provides a safe space for women to express and process difficult emotions. The physical interaction with horses can also help reduce trauma-related physical symptoms, offering a holistic path to healing.

These lessons, drawn from the intersection of Ressa Tessa's narrative and the therapeutic interaction with horses, underscore the transformative potential within each of us. Whether navigating the complexities of relationships, the uncertainties of dating, or the broader challenges of life, the wisdom gleaned from these experiences, coupled with the healing power of horses, offers a path toward resilience, understanding, and growth.
